A DC-CDI conversion Support TPS function

CDI Support TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) can provide more manipulative riding feeling.

TPS used in a way that it can be used to replace MAP (Manifold Pressure) Sensor,

to indicate the load of engine.(In fact, TSP is a reference parameter (Remedial Action) 

when MAP sensor Failure condition happened.)

TPS function but increases the complexity of the ignition timing chart will increase.

The same, TPS also affect the calibration problems after installing to the vehicle.  

So for EMS(Engine Management System)  is: TPS support functions, can be considered 

the basic concepts developed ECU.


TPS unlike other  MAP Sensor or Temperature Sensor, which is the standard to which the

amount of Nature physical property values​​. TPS is a Human interface Sensor, it will vary 

with circumstances. So, TPS installation and calibration, the most important thing is to 

learn the auto-zero function. Making the TPS installation does not use because 

after a while, causing TPS error generated. 

We now want to show support for TPS of a DC-CDI. Which in some commercial vehicles 

can also be seen.

The CDI of YAMAHA GTR (2005) in TAIWAN is support the TPS Function :

The CDI is Original CDI in the photo as followed , that is installed under front cover.

With the words "TIIC" appearance. (TIIC : IIC Cooperation in TAIWAN, it has now been 

renamed "MORIC" , that is a subsidiary company of YAMAHA. )

But the most important thing. When you first install SparkKing CDI  system to the vehicle, 

you first must complete the TPS calibration work. Every vehicle can only be done once.

The TPS calibration procedure is demonstrated as followed :






When you have finished the TPS Calibration, remember to power off, then turn-on again 

to make sure the correct input to the correction among SparkKing CDI System.

TPS due to increased functionality, there are many control algorithms can be developed 

on this platform, such as ISC (Idle Speed Control ) and more. 

While many Remedial Action of peripheral sensor malfunction must also be considered. 

For example , there are two Error Code will be defined in TPS Malfunction on our SparkKing, 

that are 22 and 23 (ie. P-code 0122 and 0123 on OBDII System). 

On our SparkKing System, will have to add some additional development capabilities, 

which will continue to function in the future expansion and increased. 

These developments are the basis for the development of the ECU accumulated significant

experience. But with a small motorcycle engine is needed is a cost efficiency ECU. 

This is a major technical challenge.

  1. 現在有裝 Oxygen sensor 的機車都是 closed-loop 的系統,
    如果更動 ignition timing ,那 fuel injector pulse widths 會不會受到影響 ?

    現在 125 c.c 機車的 oxygen senor 是不是沒有預熱的功能 ?
    冷車時特別容易熄火,過一段時間熱車時一切正常。

    1. 噴油量的計算是PV= nRT...有哪一項跟點火角有關?

      含氧感測器是四條線...其中一對就是拿來供電加熱的....

      冷車啟動過程是開回路(open-loop)系統,跟含氧感測器無關。
